Heavy Equipment Instructor
We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Heavy Equipment Instructor to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for training and educating students in the operation, maintenance, and safety protocols of various types of heavy machinery. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of heavy equipment operation, strong communication skills, and a passion for teaching and mentoring others.
Key Responsibilities
Instruction and Training: Provide hands-on training and classroom instruction on the operation of heavy equipment.
Safety Education: Teach and enforce safety protocols and procedures, ensuring that students understand how to operate equipment safely and in compliance with industry regulations.
Curriculum Development: Work with Training Director for updates as seen fit.
Evaluation and Assessment: Assess students’ performance through practical and written exams to ensure they meet competency requirements.
Student Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to students, helping them to build confidence and proficiency in operating heavy machinery.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and assessments.
Collaboration: Work closely with other instructors, program coordinators, and administrative staff to ensure effective training and student satisfaction.
Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience operating heavy equipment in construction, mining, or related industries.
Teaching Experience: Prior experience in training or teaching preferred, but not required.
Knowledge: Strong understanding of heavy equipment operation, safety regulations, and maintenance practices.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal communication skills to effectively convey information to students of varying skill levels.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in operating a wide range of heavy machinery.
Preferred Skill:
– Experience with various types of equipment.
– Ability to tailor teaching techniques to accommodate different learning styles.
– Familiarity with industry certifications and nomenclature.
– Some computer skills.
